About Me

This is where my caregiving journey met God’s promises. Through these reflections, I hope you will find comfort, hope, and renewal for your own path.

Linda Goodwin

Author, Speaker, Minister, Caregiver

Hello, I’m Linda L. Goodwin.
For more than ten years, I cared for my husband as he lived with dementia. When it became clear that he needed the specialized support of a memory care facility, I was suddenly faced with my own health crisis. What surprised me most was how depleted I had become—not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally. Less than a year later, still wondering if I would ever regain my strength, I heard a profound statement that stirred my heart and raised questions I couldn’t ignore.

As I prayed and reflected, God revealed something essential: caregivers—and anyone who continually pours out love and energy for others—have a sacred responsibility to care for themselves. That truth became the seed of my upcoming book, Pocket of Promise – A Journey to Spiritual Self-Nurture (coming 2026).

My Calling

Long before my caregiving journey, I served as a pediatric chaplain at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. There, I walked with children, families, and staff through medical crises, emotional struggles, and even end-of-life care. Out of that work grew a journal program for parents and guardians—something I was blessed to create through grant funding—which became a vital ministry of comfort and healing.

I’ve been an ordained minister for over 30 years and a spiritual retreat leader trained through the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation. In every season, God has drawn me toward helping others connect with Him more deeply—whether in hospitals, churches, retreats, or one-on-one conversations.

Another tender part of my journey is my commitment to suicide prevention. After losing a loved one to suicide, I discovered the healing grace of God in the depths of grief. That experience shaped my ministry and led to my first book, Sacred Space – Embraced with Love, Mercy, and Grace.

My Life Today

These days, I spend my time writing, leading retreats, and encouraging caregivers and spiritual seekers to find rest, hope, and resilience in God’s promises. I also love being “Mom” and “Grandma” to my four children and grandchildren. My cat, Bella, often keeps me company as I garden, cook with fresh herbs, or bake something to share with family and friends.

I believe in slowing down, creating sacred rhythms of stillness, and finding those “pockets” of time with God that restore our hearts and renew our joy.

That’s why Pocket of Promise exists: to create space for you to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with the One who sustains you.

I’d love for you to journey with me—through my writing, retreats, speaking, or even just quiet reflections shared here. My hope is that you’ll discover your own pockets of promise, where God’s peace and strength meet you right where you are.
